God created the universe in seven days, bringing order and declaring each act good, culminating in the creation of humans made in His image with dominion over all.

Genesis 2 recounts the completion of creation, the formation of humanity, the establishment of Eden, the covenant of marriage, and the initial innocence of Adam and Eve.

Cain’s murder of Abel introduces sin and violence into humanity, prompting God’s judgment and the first record of human genealogy.

Genesis 5 records the genealogy from Adam to Noah, listing each ancestor’s age at fatherhood, total lifespan, and noting key attributes such as Enoch’s walking with God and Noah’s impending role.

The chapter describes humanity’s increasing wickedness, the divine decision to cleanse the earth with a flood, and the salvation of Noah, who is instructed to build an ark to preserve life.

God commands Noah to build an ark and preserve representatives of all living creatures; a forty‑day, forty‑night deluge then destroys all life on earth except those aboard the ark.

After the flood, God withdraws the waters, Noah releases birds to test dryness, and God commands Noah to leave the ark, promising to never again curse the earth.

God blesses Noah, establishes a covenant with humanity and animals, promises no more flood and sets the rainbow as its sign, and recounts Noah’s family drama that results in a curse on Canaan.

Genesis 10 lists the descendants of Noah’s three sons, tracing the origins of the nations that settled the earth after the Flood.

Abraham purchases the Cave of Machpelah from Ephron the Hittite to bury his wife Sarah, establishing a family burial site outside Canaanite territory.

Abraham's faithful servant fulfills the patriarch’s directive by finding Rebekah in Mesopotamia and bringing her to Canaan to become Isaac’s wife, demonstrating divine providence and the continuity of Abraham’s covenant.
