Solomon completes the Temple, and a national assembly brings the Ark of the Covenant to its holy sanctuary, where divine presence fills the house, halting ministerial work.
Solomon finishes building the Temple and brings the treasures that his father David had dedicated. He gathers the elders, heads of tribes, and Levites to transport the Ark of the Covenant from Jerusalem to the new sanctuary during the seventh‑month feast. The Ark, along with the tabernacle, holy vessels, and the priests’ offerings, is set in the Holy of Holies under the cherubs’ wings. Only the tablets of the covenant remain within the Ark. After the priests leave, the Levites and 120 priests, equipped with trumpets and instruments, sing praises, causing a cloud of God’s glory to fill the house, which renders the priests unable to minister. The chapter highlights the sanctity of the Temple, the centrality of the Ark, and the awe of divine presence.
